Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Program: Approved Private School – George Crothers Memorial School

Location: 401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore PA 19081

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, school calendar;

Position Description: Our George Crothers Memorial School, located at our CADES campus in Swarthmore, PA, serving children and young adults living with multiple disabilities ages 5-21, is looking for special education teachers for our school-age program for the 2022-2023 school year. We partner with over 30 school districts in Delaware, Chester, Bucks, Montgomery, and Berks Counties, as well as the school district of Philadelphia, to provide a variety of educational opportunities through an integrated therapy model for the children living with multiple disabilities that we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Planning an educational program to fit the needs and abilities of school-aged students living with multiple disabilities and/or complex medical diagnoses.
  • Assessing student skills utilizing a variety of informal (i.e. classroom observation, data collection, rating scales) and formal assessments for individualized program development.
  • Developing and Implementing IEP goals
  • Identifying specially designed instruction
  • Monitoring progress throughout the IEP period.
  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to provide an integrated educational and therapeutic program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and permanent, provisional or Instructional 1 or 2 Certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a special education teacher .

Job Title: Paraeducator
Program: Approved Private School – George Crothers Memorial School
Location: 401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore PA 19081
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 7:45am – 3:00pm, regular school calendar, September through June

Position Description: The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking a full-time classroom assistant to work in our special education program. Position works with students ages 3 through 21 with multiple physical and intellectual disabilities. Responsible for supervision, personal care and individualized instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the facilitation and implementation of teaching procedures in large, small, and individual instruction.
  • Implementation of individual Behavior Plans/protocols, with support from BCBA and classroom teacher.
  • Ability to use trained crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as designated and demonstrated by the classroom teacher.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to inform programming and instruction for students.
  • Participate in rigorous staff development and trainings.
  • Ability to assist the teacher in implementing the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Ability to maintain current records on the student.
  • Ability to reinforce new and existing skills and concepts daily.
  • Ability to proactively anticipate the needs of the students.
  • Ability to prepare classroom materials when not already available.
  • Ability to plan and confer with classroom teacher(s).
  • Ability to assist in supervising students during arrival and dismissal.
  • Ability to assist in preparation of instructional materials.
  • Ability to assist with supervision of field trips.
  • Ability to assist in physical care of students including toileting, feeding, and other self-help skills.
  • Ability to assist with routine housekeeping.
  • Ability to perform other duties as necessary.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain all PDE requirements related to a paraprofessional.
  • Must be physically able to assist in preventing an escalated student from self-harm or harm to others.

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:

Job Title: Certified School Psychologist

Program: Approved Private School – George Crothers Memorial School

Position Description: GCMS is seeking a full-time Certified School Psychologist in our school program. The School Psychologist is to provide evaluations, write comprehensive reports, complete observations, support the educational team, assist with the educational needs of the students, and facilitate professional development in an APS setting for students with multiple disabilities and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review student records and analyze information pertinent to student learning and school adjustment needs.
  • Select, administer, score, and analyze individual tests of intelligence, academic achievement, psychological processing, and personality and attitudes to referred students.
  • Conduct informal and formal observations of students as part of the evaluation process.
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team to determine classifications that align with IDEA and support the recommended educational program for the individual student.
  • Write re-evaluation reports and contribute summary information to the IEP.
  • Determine need for additional academic and/or social emotional support. 
  • Consult with BCBA and behavior team regarding FBA and PBSP.
  • Provide consultation services and resources for teachers, paraeducators, and related service providers.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with the Pennsylvania School Psychology Association Code of Ethics.
  • Determine professional development goals that support special education students’ access to their school community.
  • Provide related trainings to the educational team.
  • Support the planning and implementation of special education initiatives.
  • Integrate new developments, research findings and best practices into ongoing programs and new initiatives.
  • Keep informed of legal requirements governing special education issues.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania DOE School Psychologist Certificate or eligibility.
  • State of Pennsylvania Department of Education Teaching Certificate in Special Education preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience with special education desired

Job Title: Social Worker

Program: George Crothers Memorial School

Schedule: Full-Time – Exempt

Position Description: This is a full-time position working the school year plus Extended School Year Program. This role provides informal assessments, complete observations, assist with social-emotional needs of the students, support families with community resourcesand facilitate professional development in an approved private school setting for students with multiple disabilities and behavioral needs.

Overview: Candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to identify and meet the social emotional needs of students with multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and challenging behaviors. Responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary team to develop school-wide and individual supports and interventions and communicating with the educational team and parents about community resources and partnerships. Provide leadership in planning, implementing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating special education programming across the school in alignment with approved private schools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review student records and analyze information pertinent to student learning and school adjustment needs.
  • Conduct informal and formal observations of students as part of the evaluation process.
  • Serve as a case manager and liaison for families in need of community agencies.
  • Serve as a member of the transition team to advocate and support the recommended educational programs for secondary.
  • Contribute summary information to the IEP as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings.
  • Determine need for additional academic and/or social emotional support.
  • Ability to assist with implementation of intervention strategies.
  • Consult with BCBA and behavior team regarding FBA and PBSP.
  • Consult with School Psychologist to determine clinical needs of students, create caseloads, and provide counseling services.
  • Provide internal coaching to paraeducators and 1:1 support teams.
  • Provide consultation services and resources for teachers, para educators, and related service providers.
  • Determine professional development goals that support special education students’ access to their school community.
  • Provide related trainings to the educational team.
  • Support the planning and implementation of special education initiatives. Integrate new developments, research findings and best practices into ongoing programs and new initiatives.
  • Keep informed of legal requirements governing special education issues.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification as Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education Social Work Certificate or eligibility to apply for certification.
  • State of Pennsylvania Department of Education Teaching Certificate in Special Education preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience with special education desired.
  • Ability to attain cleared PA State Police, Child Abuse clearances and FBI clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license and 3-year adequate driving record; maintain adequate vehicle liability insurance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs designed for students with learning, physical and behavioral disabilities.
  • Philosophy consistent with a trauma informed care approach to counseling and support.
  • Knowledge of community agencies that support individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Knowledge of medical and psychosocial issues related to individuals with learning, developmental, and/or emotional disabilities.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

Job Title: Board-Certified Behavior Analyst

Program: Approved Private School – George Crothers Memorial School

Location: 401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, school calendar

Position Description: This position is responsible for the design, direction, and implementation of positive behavioral supports provided to students. The incumbent will provide high quality services in the areas of functional behavioral assessment, positive behavior support plan development, verbal behavior assessment, consultation, and staff training. The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst will develop behavioral practices for students, collect and analyze schoolwide, classroom-based, and individualized student data.

Responsibilities:
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) for individual students. Prepare comprehensive reports on the FBA.
Develop Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) for individual students utilizing evidence-based interventions. Write programs for students to assist in teaching skill deficits, maintaining acquired skills, teaching self-help skills, and developing social skills.

Train staff on FBAs and PBSPs and systematically evaluate the consistent implementation of PBSPs through personal observation, staff consultation, and review of progress monitoring.
Develop and implement data collection systems to monitor student progress. Assist in the preparation and analysis of on-going progress monitoring data.
Provide on-going consultation and support on a student, classroom, and school-wide basis as requested.

Participate in IEP team meetings to discuss FBAs, PBSPs, and student progress.
Provide professional development to professional and non-professional staff in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and other evidence-based methodologies as requested.

Provide supervision and support to staff completing internships/practicums in applied behavior analysis. Maintain the necessary records to ensure compliance with national credentialing standards.
Provide supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). Maintain record of supervision to meet credentialing standards.

The employee must pass certification in an escort and restraint program.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a behavior-related field.
