Job Title: Classroom Assistant
Program: George Crothers Memorial School

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, school year calendar (September – June)
Position Description: The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking full-time floater classroom assistants to work in our special education program. Positions work with school aged students with multiple physical and intellectual disabilities. Responsible for supervision, personal care and individualized instruction. EOE

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist and turn

Job Title: Intensive Support Special Education Teacher 

Program: Ungraded self-contained special education program
Location:401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore PA 19081
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, regular school calendar, September through June

Position Description: The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to provide general classroom instruction for students with Multiple Disabilities in an ABA/Verbal Behavior structured classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of verbal behavior & ABA teaching procedures
  • Development and implementation of individual Behavior Plans & protocols, with support from BCBA
  • initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as designated by specific, individual behavior plans & school-wide positive behavior support program
  • Training of other team members for implementation of ABA/VB programming and behavior plant interventions/protocols
  • Ability to manage resistive behaviors such as aggression, non-compliance, elopement & verbal disruption using trained crisis prevention & intervention techniques.
  • Collect/analyze educational & behavioral data to inform instructional and behavioral programming
  • Administer VB-MAPP assessment to document/report student progress for IEP
  • Supervise paraeducators with an ability to set clear expectations & provide meaningful feedback
  • Effectively and proactively supervise class structure/schedule along with developing and implementing students individualized education plans
  • Participate actively in staff discussions and collaborate through communication in established team meetings
  • Maintain ongoing supervision and evaluation of all students
  • Maintain documentation and vigilance of student goals and objectives and progress monitoring
  • Implement and evaluate the success of prescribed curriculum & quality instructional techniques
  • Promote social responsibility and leadership of support staff and students
  • Maintain various classroom arrangements conducive to the diverse student body
  • Ability to apply differentiated instruction via a variety of techniques and approaches to meet the range of student levels and skills
  • Provide mentorship to college-level students participating in-field experience
  • Maintain focus on “best practices”, continuously seeking new ideas and techniques to ensure student progress.

Minimum Requirements/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
  • Instructional I Certification in Special Education
  • Training or experience working in an ABA/VB setting
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist and turn
  • Acceptable PA State Police, Child Abuse and FBI Background Clearances

Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Program: George Crothers Memorial School

Location: 401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore, PA

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, school year calendar (September – June)

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students using standardized and non-standardized assessments.
  • Read, analyze and interpret educational documentation.
  • Develop IEP goals based on assessment information.
  • Facilitate and implement IEP goals as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to write goals and implement therapy plans.
  • Effectively write reports and communicate information to parents and team.
  • Attend team meetings, planning meetings, and IEP meetings.
  • Collect data and analyze data for progress monitoring.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely fashion and according to state regulations.
  • Develop a schedule of individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Act as a coach to other team members.
  • Keep all state certifications and CEU’s active and in compliance.
  • Perform other job-related activities at the request of a supervisor.

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of approved principles, state regulations, professional ethics, and evidence-based therapy practices used in the field of speech language pathology.
  • Knowledge of school-based practices, including curriculum and methodologies related to classroom learning.
  • Knowledge of educational records, including timelines for RR’s, IEP’s, practitioner logs, and essential school-based documents.
  • Knowledge of a variety of assessment tools used to evaluate students with complex physical and cognitive needs.
  • Knowledge of all state certifications and required continuing education
  • Knowledge of basic computer technology

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s degree in communication Disorders or equivalent
  • PA State License
  • Level II Teacher Certification

Job Title: 1:1 Intensive Support Para Educator

Program:Ungraded self contained special education program

Position Description:The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking a full-time 1:1 Intensive Support Para Educator to work in our special education program. Position will work with a student from the ages 3 through 21 with multiple physical and intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of individual Behavior Plans & protocols, with support from BCBA & classroom teacher.
  • Assist with facilitation of the Verbal Behavior and ABA teaching procedures in large, small and individual instruction
  • Assist with training of other team members for implementation of ABA/VB programming/behavior plan interventions
  • Manage resistive behaviors; aggression, non-compliance, elopement & verbal disruption using trained crisis prevention/intervention techniques
  • Participate in staff development & training’s in Verbal Behavior & ABA programming protocols
  • Ability to collect/analyze data to inform programming & instruction; along with assisting in writing reports
  • Work with teacher in implementing the Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Responsible for physical care, of students including toileting, feeding, supervision and other self-help skills
  • Ability to meet all PDE requirements related to a paraprofessional
  • Must be physically able to assist in preventing an escalated student from self-harm or harm of others

Minimum Requirements/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or commensurate experience working in a human services field for a minimum of 5 years
  • Training and/or related experience working in an ABA/Verbal Behavior setting
  • Ability to maintain highly qualified special education paraprofessional status as defined by PDE
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist and turn
  • Acceptable PA State Police, Child Abuse and FBI Background Clearances
