Job Title: Classroom Assistant
Program: George Crothers Memorial School
Location: 401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore, PA
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, school year calendar (September – June)
Position Description: The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking full-time floater classroom assistants to work in our special education program. Positions work with school aged students with multiple physical and intellectual disabilities. Responsible for supervision, personal care and individualized instruction. EOE

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist and turn
  • Clear Criminal History, Child Abuse and FBI Background Clearances

Job Title: Intensive Support Special Education Teacher 

Program: Ungraded self-contained special education program
Location:401 Rutgers Avenue, Swarthmore PA 19081
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, regular school calendar, September through June

Position Description: The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to provide general classroom instruction for students with Multiple Disabilities in an ABA/Verbal Behavior structured classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of verbal behavior & ABA teaching procedures
  • Development and implementation of individual Behavior Plans & protocols, with support from BCBA
  • initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as designated by specific, individual behavior plans & school-wide positive behavior support program
  • Training of other team members for implementation of ABA/VB programming and behavior plant interventions/protocols
  • Ability to manage resistive behaviors such as aggression, non-compliance, elopement & verbal disruption using trained crisis prevention & intervention techniques.
  • Collect/analyze educational & behavioral data to inform instructional and behavioral programming
  • Administer VB-MAPP assessment to document/report student progress for IEP
  • Supervise paraeducators with an ability to set clear expectations & provide meaningful feedback
  • Effectively and proactively supervise class structure/schedule along with developing and implementing students individualized education plans
  • Participate actively in staff discussions and collaborate through communication in established team meetings
  • Maintain ongoing supervision and evaluation of all students
  • Maintain documentation and vigilance of student goals and objectives and progress monitoring
  • Implement and evaluate the success of prescribed curriculum & quality instructional techniques
  • Promote social responsibility and leadership of support staff and students
  • Maintain various classroom arrangements conducive to the diverse student body
  • Ability to apply differentiated instruction via a variety of techniques and approaches to meet the range of student levels and skills
  • Provide mentorship to college-level students participating in-field experience
  • Maintain focus on “best practices”, continuously seeking new ideas and techniques to ensure student progress.

Minimum Requirements/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
  • Instructional I Certification in Special Education
  • Training or experience working in an ABA/VB setting
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist and turn
  • Acceptable PA State Police, Child Abuse and FBI Background Clearances
